When i think of coffee from Kenya, I imagine bold savory flavors like stewed tomatoes, tarragon, and ripe currants. Kenyan coffees are not generally known for subtlety, so when i tried this coffee I was quite suprisied by it’s restraint. It’s not a bland coffee, still exhibiting some punchy, peppery qualities, but something akin to a scotch and water, having been allowed to open up. Ripe minerally fruit dominate the acid profile, reminding me of grapefruit, starfruit and apricot. This is a good one to sip on and ponder.
